Ideas2evidence has conducted a study of the level of competence and needs for competence within the film industry of Western Norway. The project is commissioned by The Western Norway Film Centre.
The first part of the study is focused on the level of competence within the film industry and its need for further competence and development. The second part is motivated by the department of culture’s new emphasis on children and film, an area which shall be developed mainly by the regional film institutions. As such, this part investigates the need for film competence in the educational system, if film is frequently used in teaching, and the level of cooperation between the film industry and the educational sector.
The geographical focus of this study limits to the Western Norway regions. Surveys were sent to both film makers and film workers, and to teachers in film relevant subjects such as Norwegian, Handcraft and Art and Media.
