A Study of the Labour Market for Graduates from the University of Bergen

On behalf of the University of Bergen (UiB), ideas2evidence has carried out an analysis of the labour market for graduates from the University.

The aim of the study was to map out the following:

  • future needs for education and competence, at the regional and national level and both on a short time perspective and within the next 10-15 years.
  • the labour market's knowledge and evaluation of the candidates and the education offered at the university, as well as the tools used by the university to promote these candidates and their skills.
  • the university candidates and employees own evaluation of their competence and skills, and their possibilities in the labour market.

To shed light on these issues, we conducted qualitative interviews with a sample of employers and their employees graduated from the University of Bergen. We have also carried out two quantitative surveys, one of the labour market, and one of the employees of the university. In addition, the study includes analyses of public statistics and a reanalysis of the "Kandidatundersøkelse" from the University of Bergen.
