This is a report written for The Centre of Competence on Rural Development by ideas2evidence, selected in a public tender.
The aim of this project was to document and analyse the effects of regional trainee programs on attracting young, skilled labour to the districts of Norway.
The use of regional trainee programs as a measure is quite new. Most of them were initiated after 2005 reporting a high number of applicants and good results. Through this project, the Centre of Competence on Rural Development wanted to evaluate the effect of the programs on recruiting competence to the regions and as such contribute to raise the attractiveness of the areas towards young professionals.
Ideas2evidence used a combination of qualitative and quantitative data for investigating the presented research questions. We conducted qualitative interviews with program coordinators, trainees, member firms and other relevant actors.
